COLD SNAP’S BACK

(Published 15 December 2010)

The UK is set to be hit by more freezing conditions this week, with severe weather warnings issued for many parts of the country, and the Met Office predicting a 60% chance of heavy snow.

The recent milder spell will prove to be just a brief respite as wind from the Arctic brings with it rain, snow and ice, with temperatures set to plummet as low as -10˚C.

Western areas are expected to be the hardest hit, with North West England, Northern Ireland and Scotland likely to see some of the white stuff before the weekend.

Spreading south over the next week, the cold weather could see the worst hit areas covered by up to eight inches of snow.
