GOVERNMENT TO "GET A GRIP" ON HEATING OIL PRICES

The Government want to make "absolutely sure" that domestic heating oil prices aren’t being fixed, the Energy and Climate Change Minister has said.
Chris Huhne emphasised the need to "get a grip" on oil prices as The Office of Fair Trading began investigating whether the largest companies are setting prices.
The report comes amid claims that consumers are now paying upwards of 70p per litre, which is nearly double autumn’s price.
Speaking to MPs Mr Huhne said: "This is a key issue in rural areas and we have spent a lot of attention in the ministerial team looking at it.
"I think there is genuine concern right across the House that we need to be absolutely confident that people in this position are able to secure the best possible deal in the market place."
