CHANGES TO BUILDING REGS COME INTO FORCE IN OCTOBER
(Published 1 October 2010)
October 1st is the “Start” date for the latest revisions to the Building Regulations to come into force. The new Approved Documents that will impact most on professional installers are:
- Part F – Ventilation
- Part J – Combustion Appliances and fuel storage systems
- Part L – Conservation of Fuel and Power
To add to the complexity Part L is divided into 4 sections, Part L1A for new dwellings; Part 1 LB for existing dwellings; Part L 2A for new build other than dwellings and Part L 2B for existing buildings other then dwellings.
The most significant change for domestic heating, comes with Part L1A which requires all new completed dwellings to have CO2 emissions 25% lower than in 2006. This is in line with Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
SEDBUK has also been updated and will apply from the same date, which effectively means that all new and replacement boilers will require the equivalent of an A rated boiler.
