USING CONTROLS - WHY ADVICE MATTERS

Hot Water Control Basics

Once you’ve installed new heating controls, it’s important to advise householders how to use them to maximise comfort levels and energy savings.

The Building Regulations are supported by the Domestic Building Services Compliance Guide, which provides practical guidance to professionals when installing central heating systems.

This guide states that when a new or replacement heating system is fitted, the installer should provide the householder with a full explanation of the system and its operation, which is beneficial to all involved.

Householders need to understand how to use their new heating system correctly if they are to enjoy the comfort, energy saving and cost benefits, while you are less likely to receive callbacks if the householder knows how to operate their heating and hot water correctly.

It’s particularly important to advise householders on using each of the heating controls within their system to ensure they can achieve time, temperature and zone control, and the associated energy and cost savings.

To make it easier for installers to access technical support on site, we’ve recently upgraded our unique Drayton in Touch mobile application. The tool now includes commissioning guides, compatibility guides, wiring diagrams and a handy store locator, all available via the mobile internet to help installers wherever they are.
