DRAYTON BACKS NEW GREEN HOMES GRANT

Drayton has welcomed the new £2bn grant scheme announced by the Government, enabling homeowners and landlords alike to apply for vouchers to make their homes more energy efficient.

Set to go live in September, the ‘Green Homes Grant’ sees the Government offering to cover two thirds of the cost of energy saving home improvements, including heating controls. Consumers will be directed towards accredited local suppliers alongside a list of recommended approved energy efficiency measures.

Crucially, half the fund will be ringfenced for the poorest households who will not have to contribute anything to the cost. This is a positive step towards ensuring that the energy transition does not leave behind those who already cannot afford to heat their homes properly.

Remi Volpe, Vice President & General Manager, Residential Temperature Controls at Schneider Electric UK, said: “As the economy begins its recovery from the impact of the pandemic, it’s great to see the Government implementing a scheme that will benefit both installers and homeowners.

“The new ‘Green Homes Grant’ scheme will help encourage home improvements that will not only bring much needed work to installers, but also enable residents to reap the benefits of energy saving technologies. Drayton by Schneider Electric look forward to working with our installers to help the Government deliver this exciting new programme with our range of energy saving heating controls.”
