October 2025 Energy Price Cap Rise – What You Need to Know

From 1st October 2025, Ofgem will raise the energy price cap by 2%, bringing the average annual bill for a typical dual-fuel household paying by Direct Debit to £1,755. While this is a modest increase of around £2.93 per month, it’s a timely signal for installers to engage customers on energy efficiency and smart heating solutions.

Why the Price Cap Matters to Installers

Although the rise is relatively small, it reflects broader shifts in the energy market, and while the cap is still £625 below its early 2023 peak, low-income households remain vulnerable to fuel poverty with any increase.

For installers, this presents a valuable opportunity to position smart heating controls not just as a comfort upgrade, but as a cost-saving investment.

What This Means for Your Customers

Even with inflation outpacing the price cap rise, many homeowners will be looking for ways to reduce their bills. Ofgem is encouraging consumers to consider fixed tariffs and switch to Direct Debit, which could save them over £200 compared to the new cap.

But the biggest savings still lie in reducing energy consumption - and that’s where smart heating controls come in.
