As part of Schneider Electric, everyone here at Drayton is extremely proud that the company has been named most sustainable corporation in the world in the Global 100 index!
Top Of The Sustainability Leagues
The corporate league table, compiled by researcher Corporate Knights, ranks over 8,000 high-revenue companies in terms of sustainability. Having got to 29th last year, Schneider Electric accelerated to the top spot by stepping up collaboration with other firms to meet sustainability goals.
Schneider Electric, The Sustainability Doctor
Schneider CEO, Jean-Pascal Tricoire, describes how Schneider Electric takes the role of ‘doctor and pharmacist’ to tech companies like Walmart, the Mariott hotel group and steel firm ArcelorMittal, by diagnosing sustainability limitations and offering technology and energy solutions that help companies meet their climate targets.
Despite the economical fallout of the Covid-19 restrictions, Schneider experienced a surge of interest in partnerships from other companies across the globe seeking automation and energy systems, to both help their employees work efficiently and safely from home, and reduce their corporate carbon footprint.
Jean-Pascal Tricoire said, “At the start of 2020 I feared that people facing a crisis would stop their environmental commitments, but it has been just the contrary.
“The pandemic has made everyone realise that we are vulnerable to natural events, and raised the consciousness around the need to reduce carbon emissions and help fight climate change.”
Case Study: Schneider Electric And Walmart
One case study outlines a project with US retail giant, Walmart. 90% of Walmart’s environmental footprint was associated with its thousands of suppliers and Schneider was contracted to work with more than 2,000 of its suppliers, to develop renewable-based energy solutions. By the end of 2020, Walmart’s suppliers had saved more than 230 million tonnes of carbon, as part of Walmart’s goal to save 1 gigatonne of carbon over the next decade.
Schneider’s Commitment To Investing In A Greener Future
70% of Schneider’s revenue is generated by sustainable solutions (with an aim to increase these ‘green revenues’ to 80% between 2021 and 2025) and almost 75% of investment is focused on green innovation, as indicated by Corporate Knights’ findings. It also praised Schneider’s strong performance in its other core values of racial and gender diversity and equality, resource productivity and safety.
By extending its collaboration with firms across the world, Schneider’s goal is to help its customers save or avoid 800 megatonnes of carbon emissions from 2021-2025.
“All of us – companies, governments, individuals – can contribute to make the world greener and more inclusive.”
- Jean-Pascal Tricoire, CEO, Schneider Electric
With Schneider Electric as Drayton’s parent company, we couldn’t be prouder to share these goals and values with the world, and proud also of the company’s recognition for all the investment and innovative partnerships that have been forged in 2020 despite the many challenges the year has seen.
