An Iconic Partnership: Schneider Electric & Kew Gardens Powering a Greener Future

At Drayton, sustainability is more than a corporate goal - it’s a shared responsibility. As part of the Schneider Electric global family, we’re proud to celebrate a powerful new partnership that embodies the commitment to environmental stewardship: Schneider Electric is now the official Energy Sustainability Partner of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Kew Gardens is a globally renowned institution, home to the world’s largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it welcomes over 2 million visitors annually and plays a vital role in plant science, conservation, and education. When Kew announced its bold ambition to become climate positive by 2030, Schneider Electric saw a unique opportunity to support that mission.

This partnership is more than symbolic - it’s hands-on and impactful. Schneider Electric is providing on-site engineering expertise to help Kew transition away from fossil fuels, reduce emissions, and optimise energy use across its historic and modern facilities. From heritage architecture to cutting-edge research labs. The challenge is complex, but the commitment is clear.

Rachel Purdon, Head of Sustainability at RBG Kew, said it best:

“Our partnership with Schneider Electric marks a major step forward in our sustainability journey. Their expertise and support will be invaluable in helping us deliver real, measurable decarbonisation progress across our sites.”

For us at Drayton, this collaboration is deeply inspiring. Our work in smart heating controls and energy-efficient home solutions is driven by the same values - empowering people to make sustainable choices and reduce their carbon footprint. Whether it’s through programmable thermostats or smart TRVs, we’re helping households across the UK take control of their energy use.

Kelly Becker, Schneider Electric’s Zone President for UK & Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands, summed it up perfectly:

“Both of our organisations are impact makers, united in our vision for a more sustainable planet.”

This partnership also sets a powerful example for other organisations. It shows that decarbonisation is achievable - not through sweeping gestures, but through collaborative, step-by-step action. It’s a story we’re proud to share, and one that motivates us to keep innovating in our own space.

As Schneider Electric and Kew Gardens work together to protect biodiversity and reduce environmental impact, we at Drayton are reminded of the importance of every smart solution we deliver. Because sustainability starts at home - but its impact can reach the world.
