This month, Drayton has launched ‘The Heating Efficiency Podcast’. The new show is hosted by Clare@Drayton, who will be joined by industry experts to discuss various topics surrounding heating system efficiency.

Last week the government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy announced the news that a number of training organisations across England have been awarded funding to deliver accredited training programmes to boost numbers of skilled retrofit, energy efficiency and heat pump installers.
The courses will be free or heavily subsidised and will provide retraining opportunities for people already working or looking to start roles in the green energy sector.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer delivered last week his Autumn Statement, aiming to restore stability to the UK economy. The Autumn Statement took place in the context of wider economic pressure and its tax and spending implications were covered widely in the press.

The significant changes to Part L of the building regulations, introduced on 15 June, aim to improve the efficiency of new and retrofit heating systems. These changes are a necessary step to reducing emissions from buildings and will be followed in 2025 by the introduction of an even more ambitious Future Homes Standard. Heating engineers need to take notice of the changes that took place on 15 June and the general direction of travel as required skills and measures required to install heating systems evolve.
